Mipi Dsi Serializer Deserializer
The MIPI Virtual GPIO Interface (MIPI VGISM) virtually enables sideband signaling between peripherals and the application processor in a device. It can also be used to connect the processor to general peripherals such as hubs, other companion chips or I/O expanders, or to interface devices to a docking station. The MAX9288/MAX9290 gigabit multimedia serial link (GMSL) deserializers receive data from a GMSL serializer over 50Ω coax or 100Ω shielded twisted-pair (STP) cable and output deserialized data on the CSI-2 outputs. The MAX9290 has HDCP content protect. 3.12Gbps GMSL Deserializers for Coax or STP Input and MIPI CSI-2 Output.
I see that there is a new part, the DS90UH940-QI which inputs a Flat Panel Display Link III serial data stream and outputs a MIPI CSI-2 data stream. Are there any plans for a part that does the reverse? A part that inputs MIPI CSI-2 from an image sensor and translates it into a Flat Panel Display Link III serial stream?
My system would look like the following: Image sensor------MIPI CSI-2------>Serializer-------FPD-LIII------->Deserializer------Parallel video------>My image processor I can do this now with a separate MIPI bridge IC between the sensor and serializer, but the combination consumes too much power for the application. There may be other ways to do this using other serdes technologies but the ability of FPD-LIII to send i2C commands backwards on the same cable from the Deserializer to the Serializer is a very useful feature. Texas Instruments has released a camera hub capable of connecting serialized camera data received from four independent video data streams via an FPD-Link III interface. The DS90UB964-Q1, when coupled with serializers, receives data from 1MP image sensors supporting 720p/800p/960p resolution at 30Hz or 60Hz frame rates. Data is received and aggregated into a MIPI CSI-2 compliant output for interconnect to a downstream processor. A second MIPI CSI-2 output port is available to provide additional bandwidth. Each of the device’s four FPD-Link III deserializers enables connection via a 50Ω single-ended coaxial or 100Ω differential STP cables. The equalizer automatically adapts to compensate for cable loss characteristics, including degradation over time.
